Deflection of the suspensions

Question: According to UIC 505-1 the determination of the minimum heights above the running surface for coaches and vans, special wagons and multiple units has to examine deflection with a 30% overload of the sprung weight or total deflection. How does DIMA decide, which deflection is to be used?
Answer: For coaches and vans, special wagons and multiple units the more unfavorable deflection of the two cases is used in accordance with demand of the EBA. The deflection with a 30% overload of the sprung weight dz30 is a direct input value in the data base "Running gear". The total deflection will be calculated as sum of the values maximum spring displacement, primary spring Sfp and maximum spring displacement, secondary spring Sfp likewise from the data base "Running gear". The user can affect the selection over the size of the three input values.

Project files and databases

Question: Where can I find the databases and projects files?
Answer: Because of the new safety concept in Windows Vista normal users have no writing permissions in the program path (C:\Program Files). Therefore since DIMA 2.0 the position of databases and project files was changed. They're now in a path that is accessable for all users. Depending on the used Windows version this path is:

Windows 7 / 8 / 8.1 and 10
Databases C:\Benutzer\Öffentlich\Öffentliche Dokumente\IFB\DIMA\Datenbank
(C:\Users\Public\Documents\IFB\DIMA\Database)
Project files C:\Benutzer\Öffentlich\Öffentliche Dokumente\IFB\DIMA\Projekte
(C:\Users\Public\Documents\IFB\DIMA\Projects)

The database path can be changed in the program under options/database connection. In the same new path the file DIMA.MDB has to be available.
The standard project path can be changed in the program under options/program.
